Austria is situated in the "Heart of Europe""
Area: 83.859 square kilometres
Population: about 8 mio.

Lunz is situated in Lower Austria, not very far away from our capital Vienna.
Lunz is a small village in the countryside with about 2100 inhabitants.

This is our school. It's a really small Secondary School for 10-14 year olds. There are only about 85 pupils and 12 teachers.

This is one of our two skiing areas in Lunz. They are called "Maiszinken" (foto on the left) and the "Helmel-Lifte". There we sometimes go skiing and snowboarding in our PE lessons in winter.

Here you can enjoy the wondeful view down to our lake. It is called "Lunzer See". "Lunz" is the name of our village and "lake" means "See" in German.
All over the year lots of tourists come to Lunz. In summer they go boating and swimming in the lake or they make hiking tours in our beautiful countryside. In winter tourists go skiing, cross-country skiing or ice-skating on the lake.

This is the lake in winter. In cold winters the ice is so thick, that you can even drive with a car on it.

Lunz is situated in the east ends of the Alps. That's why our village is surrounded by mountains. On this photo (in the background) you can see the highest mountain in our region. It is called "Ötscher" and it's 1893 metres high.

This is the so called "Amonhaus", the most famous sight in Lunz. It was built in 1551. Today the building accommodates a museum.

Because of the mountains the sun goes down quite early in Lunz (in winter at about 4pm). Nevertheless the sunset is always worth a view.
